We're really happy and honoured to welcome Jen Charadia as a member of the Butterfly House! Jen has an incredibly rich history in Catholic education. She spent many years as a principal, Assistant Principal, Religious Education Co-ordinator and classroom teacher in the Diocese of Wollongong. She spent several years on the RE and Faith Formation Team.
But through it all she has been a composer, creating several albums, including one dedicated to the words of Mary MacKillop. So there is no better time for Jen to join us as we lead up to Mary MacKillop's Feast Day in a couple of weeks. Here are two of her songs, linked with a Staff Prayer, focusing on Mary.
Love In Our Hearts by Jen Charadia (Mary MacKillop, Gospel values)
From Jen: "The song 'Love In Our Hearts' is based on the words of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. It reminds us that when we act out of love God is always with us. This song can be used in prayer or liturgy at any time of the year because it reiterates Christ's universal message and his commandment to 'Love one another, as I have loved you.'"
From Jen: "The 'Presence' mantra was written in the outback of WA and works beautifully at the beginning of any prayer or meditation to remind us that we are always in the presence of God. When we listen for the Holy Spirit, who speaks to us during prayer or meditation, we attune ourselves to what is stirring in us so that we may be a presence for each other."
