Welcome Here - Yulunga Version, new from Tim for NAIDOC Week

Welcome Here- Yulunga Version by Timothy Hart (NAIDOC Week- Dharawal Language).

From Tim:

Yulunga.

Welcome.

Welcome to this place.

With a spirit of reconciliation and inclusion, join me in singing a gathering song ‘Welcome Here - Yulunga Version’ this NAIDOC week 2024.

One interpretation of the word ‘Yulunga’ means welcome. This greeting is used by the Dharawal speaking people from the Illawarra region of NSW.

This NAIDOC week we are called to ‘Keep the Fire Burning!’ And so it is with permission from the Dharawal community of Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong that we sing ‘Yulunga’ to inculturate our worship here in Wollongong and keep the fire burning in more ways than one.

This NAIDOC week you might like to learn greetings in the Indigenous language of country upon which your community resides."
